This design for a villa is situated on a hill above the village of Velká Chuchle on the outskirts of Prague. Conceived as a pristine ‘crystalline’ object the design draws inspiration from the Czech cubist tradition. As the site is steeply sloping, the basement acts as a plinth creating a platform from which the upper floors grow and enables a usable external terrace. Urbanistically, the design provides a strong focal point at the end of the steep climb up from the village centre.
