The 20 hectare former Walter aero engines site is located at the edge of Prague City centre and formed a barrier between the dense urbanisation of the centre and the suburban development of the outskirts.
The masterplan connects these 2 zones and creates a self contained local centre with a rich variety of public spaces and amenities to enable the communities’ needs to be met. Using a traditional urbanism of streets, squares and parks and building on existing features (tree lined alley, retained industrial elements) a new urban neighbourhood of 250 000 m2 is proposed.
As access to greenery is a key component of well being, views to greenery from the buildings are maximised and pedestrian pathways planned to connect to local parks and the countryside beyond.
