IBA won a competition to design the new premises for gaming simulations company SCS Software in January 2017. The brief for the 1 700 m2 space called for the creation of a ‘state of the art’ workplace that would encourage collaboration and be a real joy to work in.
Since the SCS work in teams, we wished to express this by creating ‘home bases’ for each team. These striking visual elements with their ‘top hat acoustic umbrellas’ are arranged along the communications routes to encourage other teams to enter and interact.
Speaking about the design, Tomáš Šimon, the Director of Operations and Finance from SCS Software said: ‘Our company is expanding rapidly and we are constantly looking for young and talented people to join our team; when we appointed IBA we were looking for a team of architects that understood that our headquarters needed to be representative of what we are doing, use the space efficiently and in a way that allowed our ongoing expansion, but that also acted as a real ‘added bonus’ for our staff by giving them a really inspiring and creative environment in which to work. I think the design of the offices has really achieved what we were after and gives our staff an inspiring and creative environment in which to work’.
